Tales of one with time: Entry No. 12

The subject we'll be touching in this entry is education, more specifically reading habits, technology and its interferance and perhaps, the lack of interest and motivation of not only students, but the teachers, the directors/principals and even those who are in charge of the system nationwide.

So, why this subject? Because I find myself at an outrage to see how poorly my country is doing in this (I mean Mexico, Canada seems to be just fine); so, just so you understand the reason for my anger I'll explain: Today, simultaneously within the same classroom as me, not even going so far, I saw the following:
  • Students sleeping
  • Teachers not imparting class
  • Students mingling
  • A general sense of carelessness
  • Students with stupid comments (on purpose)
  • Others glorifying the previous actions
Once taken these into consideration, we can move on to mentioning that those in charge of the educational system blame the teachers, who at the same time blame the students, who blame everyone else; Educators say that the solution is to obligate the students to read more, but doing this, they're going to find no results, others who have been exposed to this kind of thing before, insist in a reward system and that is one of the reasons why this country does so poorly, as a country we are used to not do anything if there isn't a tangible reward, so if nothing comes in return, nothing is done and I for one find this ludacrous.

I personally believe that we need to encourage the students into habits of investigation, habits of doing things properly at once in orther to avoid the extra work oh having to redo something, that they should be taught that they have to work not because it's obligatory, and not for any gain, but simply for personal growth... With nothing further to duscuss, until the next entry of the blog, good bye.
