Tales 4
Tales of one with time: Entry No. 4
Today we'll be discussing a controversial topic, one that is the subject on which riots are started, one that causes fights, one that breaks friendships and makes the one who once was the most attractive person in the world become some sort of monster, of semihuman similar to smeagle from the Lord of the Rings.
So what could be such a touchy subject? Music, more specifically tastes in music.
Now, the first instance we are going to touch isn't exactly a genre, it's more the group of people that listens to this... what shall we call it, a grouping!, yes, the grouping of the UNDERGROUND. This grouping of music is all of those that "you've probably never heard of", hipsters, you know these guys, those weird people with a common sentiment of being some kind of "elite" above everyone else because they don't partake in such trivialities as anything "mainstream", basically if anyone else but them and their comrades have heard of it it's no good; Being that these people are so indubitably superior, I wish to give them a slow clap, so please join me, doing so to the glory of these magnanimus individuals. *CLAP*... *CLAP*...*CLAP*. (For the slower amongs my viewers, this last bit was sarcastic, I can't stand people like that).
On to the national pastime of my second largest group of viewers, that of finland (up to the moment when this was writen I had 3 viewers from there) HEAVY METAL, there's a statistic going around the web that says there's about 54.3 heavy metal bands per 100,000 fins, these guys seem to love their metal and you know I personally like it too, so if it wasn't mentioned before, I'm not here to bash people for their tastes, I like things many people don't myself, but we are here to make fun of those that take it way to seriously... Back to the metal, these guys get hardcore "no man, metal is the best, you're all derrogatory words for gay people for liking that other stuff", more than with any other groups, metal and other kinds of hard rock fans become aggresive because of the nature of the music, very intense.
Another one of my personal likings: REGGAE, this music is victim to a lot of hate, everyone thinks if you like reggae you smoke marihuana but hey, let's poke fun at those blonde caucasian skater/surfer type kids from american suburbia!, you know them: "chill out man, you're music is like... harsh dude, pass me the doritos", now these people when saying their music is better are actually kind of funny, very dopey for the most part.
Towards the future... the 90's till today, the future of yesterday, but what is today if not the yesterday of tomorrow?, getting a little philosophical now and that isn't the point, so getting back on track these have so many subgenres and varieties it's difficult to keep track of but you know it all sounds the same "DUNS DUNS DUNS DUNS DUNS DUNS DUNS", I'm talking about TECHNO, HOUSE MUSIC and most recently DUBSTEP amongst OTHERS (the word "others" is highlighted and bold because it's obvious it's a really key word to this blog), now, most of these people don't really get all fightsty about their music, but that's because they can't hear anything from the huge headphones they all lug around on them, therefore they don't get bothered by it and probably don't really care, one could learn a bit from them; On the other hand we have the lovers of dubstep, you know them, the ones that think some of these "artists" are some kind of messiah, but quoting a meme I saw on 9gag the other day: "no skrillex, mac is not an instrument", pressing play requires no skill.
Since I can't write forever, my final example is going to be RAP/HIP-HOP, another one that I actually like but here we poke fun at everyone, even me, so, what really grinds my gears with this is that it's gone from being art, from requiering skill at riming, being something only a few could do to "I got b****es, I got h*es, I got my lambo and money, I smoke weed and I don't give a f**k". (Please do excuse the crude languaje censured here but that's what it's come to and also I try to keep it PG-13).
If you've read the previous entries of this blog, you'll notice that the final paragraph is always some sort of conclusion that says we should all just accept our differences and unite and this is not the exception (break the fourth wall much? (but given the nature of this, is there really a fourth wall? (parenthesis-ception))). So what I mean here is really what's the point in fighting, we all like our diveristy of music, even if there are some genres we dislike, there's always one or two songs you like and really if you go back far enough, there's a common root to if not everything, most of it, so blah, blah, hippie thoughts.
