Tales of one with time: Entry No. 6

So just recently, I heard the news that ex-president of Mexico Mr. Vicente Fox Quesada asked U.S. president Mr. Barack Obama to simply legalize all drugs, so in honor of the international day for the usage of marihuana that is 4-20 (twentieth of april), I decided to give my points of view on this subject, but beforehand I want to make it clear that these opinions express the liberties of people, not my own endorsment for or against usage of drugs.

Begining the exposure of my personal opinions, I believe that everyone should be able to do what they choose to do with their free time, money and life, therefore I do believe that it wouldn't really be a bad thing to legalize a vast ammount of drugs, but I wouldn't go as far as to say to legalize all drugs.

But why? well, from an objective point of view that just looks at the drugs themselves, we allready have many legal drugs, all sorts of suposive medical pills and intravenous chemicals that sometimes have more adverse side effects than what they "cure", we have cigarrettes and alcohol and really the damage they do is way worse than what most illegal drugs cause, also many of these become addictive very quickly and kicking those habbits is usually extremely complicated.

So what drugs do I believe one should be free to purchase without persecution? Anything that is natural; Synthetics are just the same thing as the above mentioned, they're addictive, they cause horrible side effects on the body, anything you have to chemically alter to get the results you're looking for is just wrong, but what is so bad about what's natural? It grows from the same earth that provides the world with food, shelter, every other resourse that any living organism requires, I'm talking about marihuana, mushrooms, peyote, cocaine (in it's natural form), etc. These give the users a feeling they're looking for and really are mostly harmless, people using them can participate in society or in the very least don't make them violent individuals that would assault others, are mostly not addictive so they don't push the users to commit crime in order to get their next fix.

On the other hand we have synthetics, crack, crystal meth, extasy, heroine, these all become very addictive, push the users to steal and commit other crimes and why? because of the great level of addiction they produce, it makes people stop thinking about anything exept aquiring and using more and more and the effects they have on the body are completly horrendous.

Now, as far as the governet is concerned, I have a series of points I'd like to adress about the subjetc:

  • Cost of persecution: Have you any Idea of the insane ammounts of money that it costs countries every year to search for and capture people whose only crime is the usage of drugs for their own personal life? this is basically the same as if they went to arrest everyone who was buying alcohol, the only difference is one makes them money and the other and the other loses ours
  • Drug enterprises: The effort that is being spent by the government on the war on drugs, with all the new ways to find these people is making the drug cartels invest even more into corruption whitch in turn helps them profit even more, thereby just worsening the problem.
  • Arrests: Do we really want all of this to go to arresting a guy that once at a friends... thinks he smoked pot... pot.
  • Taxability: If the government were to regulate the sales and profit from it that could allow for it to get a larger amount of money that could go towards research or, education, or rehabilitation clinics for those who have fallen ill from undiscriminated use of drugs, in the end, that's what they were trying to protect us from.
all in all, maybe i'm wrong, maybe I'm right, what we can say for sure is that we all know that something is being done wrong and affecting us all in ways we may not even realize and if truly we take the decisions in this country, let's take that power and ask for change and justice, and finaly... happy 4-20.
